Park Pictures’ Bernd Faass directs cinematic spot for the carmaker
Vans are not the sexiest of vehicles, but a new campaign from Mercedes-Benz takes a balletic and cinematic approach to advertising them— something that advertisers have been trying to recreate ever since Volvo Trucks’ Epic Split back in 2013.
In the film, from German agency Preuss und Preuss and directed by Bernd Faass of Park Pictures, a fleet of Merceds-Benz van drivers “perform” in sychronicity to music. The choreographed sequence moves from scenes of the drivers unlocking the van with an app to switching on lights, to loading goods and strapping in. As they drive along in formation to music, like a troupe of dancers or a flock of birds, they perform a series of perfectly executed moves, and then ultimately, come together to form the Mercedes logo when seen from above.
The spot was shot in Portugal with music via MassiveMusic.
