I always reference\u00a0<em>The Big Lea<\/em><em>p,\u00a0<\/em>directed by <a class=\"js-source-redirect\" href=\"https:\/\/sourcecreative.extremereach.com\/Creative\/PeopleDetail\/link?api_id=16E19505-3BC3-48F0-B11D-430A8EB4B24B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seb Edwards<\/a>,\u00a0as one of the greatest achievements in advertising \u2013 every time I watch this spot I have a visceral reaction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Get up, don\u2019t worry about what anyone else is doing, put your head down, do the work, tell the story and see how it shapes up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-body\">\n<div class=\"post-body__content\">\n<p>I really appreciate great storytelling, and I admire how there are so many different ways to tell a story, like how <a class=\"js-source-redirect\" href=\"https:\/\/sourcecreative.extremereach.com\/Creative\/PeopleDetail\/link?api_id=fb1125da-0b93-4f91-a285-b6b88edd514d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vania &amp; Muggia<\/a>\u00a0floored us with their aesthetic in\u00a0<em>Tailor Swif<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And lastly, I think I&#8217;ve watched\u00a0<em>Cash in Cash Out<\/em> by <a class=\"js-source-redirect\" href=\"https:\/\/sourcecreative.extremereach.com\/Creative\/PeopleDetail\/link?api_id=24d6cf7f-bdea-4b2f-8e28-a3adfc9fe81e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Francois Rousselet<\/a>\u00a0about 1000 times \u2013 just in awe of the approach and the execution. All of these films really reflect for me what we all should be striving for \u2013 craft at a level so heightened that it becomes a work of art.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-video__title\">\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/sourcecreative.extremereach.com\/Creative\/spotDetail\/link\/?api_id=E43853C8-E2F0-40AD-A902-45EC27C82371\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lacoste \u2013 Lacoste: The Big Leap<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p><iframe title=\"Lacoste - The Big Leap\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/n4t00D_IPVk?feature=oembed&#038;width=840&#038;height=1000&#038;discover=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Please share 3-4 pieces of work that exemplify great production.<\/h2>\n<p><em>The Bear<\/em> &#8211; It\u2019s created these characters that have shaped pop culture, all the while immersing us in this slice-of-life we only thought we knew about. At its core it\u2019s just beautiful writing, cinematography and acting.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the end if you don\u2019t have that gut feeling and the love for the story \u2013 then it\u2019s just not worth it. This is what I love about what I do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Triangle of Sadness<\/em> &#8211; How it gets to the core of what we think, subtly then very brutally, and in the end we&#8217;re left still thinking about the movie and thinking about the state of the world. It\u2019s one of those films that just stays with me no matter what I\u2019m doing as a milestone of production and, again, storytelling.<\/p>\n<p><em>Adolescence<\/em> &#8211; As a father I obviously am very struck by the resonance, but as a producer I am in awe of how just a few subtle things \u2013 camera and performance \u2013 are truly the core of how poignant this show is.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-video__title\">\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/sourcecreative.extremereach.com\/Creative\/spotDetail\/link\/?api_id=6a27e518-7761-4f45-b4c0-fc43b31794fb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A$AP Rocky \u2013 Tailor Swif<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p><iframe title=\"A$AP Rocky - Tailor Swif (Official Video)\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5URefVYaJrA?feature=oembed&#038;width=840&#038;height=1000&#038;discover=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>What do you like most about the work that you do?<\/h2>\n<p>I love that it all began with believing in stories. That it\u2019s been the thin red line that\u2019s held all the way through \u2013 whether it\u2019s getting a director that elusive first job or believing so much in a story that it wins with 2 Oscars (Sound of Metal, 2019.) My process has always been: get up, don\u2019t worry about what anyone else is doing, put your head down, do the work, tell the story and see how it shapes up.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m not sure there&#8217;s a job in this industry I haven\u2019t done, from being a rat wrangler to a casting assistant to being an assistant to a 90s action star.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These days, the stories do get bigger and have a lot more reach, but in the end if you don\u2019t have that gut feeling and the love for the story \u2013 then it\u2019s just not worth it. This is what I love about what I do. I get to be a part of making things, all the time for all kinds of people. It does not fall on deaf ears how lucky we all are.<\/p>\n<h2>What has your career journey been like so far?<\/h2>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think there&#8217;s a job in this industry that I haven\u2019t done, from being a rat wrangler to a casting assistant to being an assistant to a 90s action star. Producing is the sum of all its parts, and the incredible thing about it is that you&#8217;re always learning, there is always something new that you&#8217;re discovering. Why?<\/h2>\n<p>Wow, Frank Marshall? Francis Ford Coppola? Steven Spielberg? Frank Capra? Or any award-winning music video producer.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s really about the ability to react, create and orchestrate all the while keeping your eye on the vision.\u00a0Being a producer is such an amorphous job that requires you to juggle many parts that it\u2019s really hard to name just one, because in a way it\u2019s a miracle when anything gets produced at all.\u00a0It takes so many things to line up to make these things happen that it also requires a bit of alchemy- which I guess by default all those producers have.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Adolescence | Official Trailer | Netflix\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Wk5OxqtpBR4?feature=oembed&#038;width=840&#038;height=1000&#038;discover=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Did you have a mentor? Who was it?<\/h2>\n<p>This is a nice one. I\u2019ve been lucky in this category. My business partner who sought me out and entrusted me with being the founder of Caviar in the US has been my mentor, and in turn one of my closest friends. It\u2019s made this journey that much more meaningful and powerful. I feel so fortunate to have been able to build something with the person who has shepherded me through the art of producing and remaining sane all at once. I think the best way to keep up with it is to empower and entrust those around you.
