The USC student body is buzzing about two of its own\u2014Ryan Robinson and Zach Shenouda\u2014who came this close to making Super Bowl history.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their entry in Doritos\u2019 \u201cCrash the Super Bowl\u201d contest, a challenge that invites filmmakers to create a hilarious and unforgettable 30-second commercial, took them from campus to the national stage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Story Behind \u201cThe Barbershop\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Nebula Loop ~FREE Motion HD 4K~ BACKGROUND - SCREENSAVER\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/El12V5eXVsA?feature=oembed&#038;width=840&#038;height=1000&#038;discover=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ryan and Zach, both seniors in film and television production, brought their A-game with \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vQXN87X96QY\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Barbershop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d Picture this: a barber with Doritos dust-covered fingers, a client in the chair, and a series of cringeworthy but hilarious mishaps. The concept was simple yet brilliant, playing perfectly into Doritos\u2019 \u201cBe bold\u201d motto. Their spot earned them a spot as one of the three finalists in the competition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Competition Was Real<\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Abduction\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sIAnQwiCpRc?feature=oembed&#038;width=840&#038;height=1000&#038;discover=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alongside Ryan and Zach was a commercial called \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sIAnQwiCpRc\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abduction<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d created by former Dublin filmmaker Dylan Bradshaw and his co-director, Nate Norell. Their ad featured a UFO on a mission for Doritos, mixing humor with sci-fi vibes. In the end, the alien invasion was a hit. Dylan and Nate\u2019s ad ended up winning the whole thing, scoring a cool $1 million and a spot during the Super Bowl.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Aftermath<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Ryan and Zach didn\u2019t take home the grand prize, the entry was definitely considered a win as making it to the top three in a national contest is a huge accomplishment as USC. For Trojans, it\u2019s inspiring to see fellow classmates chasing their dreams and getting that kind of recognition.
