Adaptive Sports Program New Mexico (ASPNM) today launches the heartfelt brand film \u201cMoving Together\u201d out of Valiant Pictures<\/a> and director Alexandra Henry, casting much-needed visibility on the impact of access in the lives of those with mental and physical disabilities. Since 1985, the ASPNM has offered therapeutic recreational activities to children and adults alike. Today, ASPNM proudly offers a wide variety of adaptive sports year-round, including skiing, snowboarding, watersports, river rafting, yoga, rock climbing, and more.<\/p>\n

Building the program proved no bunny slope; the film spotlights the dedicated skiing instruction team and athletes who benefit from such careful attention to their respective needs in the name of bridging access for every kind of skier. From instructors and volunteers who carefully accommodate each participant to the powder-loving enthusiasts who can once again partake in their favorite sport, ASPNM and Alexandra bring awareness to the clear emotional and physical well-being that can be provided by just having the resources to re-engage with a treasured pastime.<\/p>\n

Alexandra spotlights athletes including skier and retired Army veteran Mark Whitson, who, after losing his leg in a roadside accident, was sidelined from skiing for 25 years. That is, until the ASPNM provided the tools and instruction required to reopen the slopes for Mark, where he can finally ski with his grandchildren and teach \u201cski-bike\u201d–riding a ski with bike handlebars, for those in his situation–to other participants. Where disabled participants can at times assume a sport, or any activity, is permanently out of reach, ASP proves the right attention can accommodate even a hobby as extreme as skiing and snowboarding to anyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an honor to witness and share the stories of resilience from people who\u2019ve overcome unthinkable accidents and have managed lifelong obstacles. Mark\u2019s positivity, along with the compassion of the volunteers at ASP, is truly inspiring. They are changing lives for the better and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a film that brings awareness to the hard work being accomplished.\u201d notes Alexandra.<\/p>\n

Alexandra Henry is an emerging director with over 15 years of international experience in film and branded entertainment. She showcases her passion for art, music, and languages through photography and her award-winning documentary Street Heroines, which features female street artists from all over the world. The documentary is currently being distributed by Good Docs and Buffalo8. Alexandra also specializes in producing branded content for PepsiCo\u2019s in-house content studios where she has helmed dozens of projects, including the global docuseries \u2018Cantera 5v5\u2019 for Gatorade, branded content films for Alexander Wang x Pepsi China, the official TV commercial for the Pepsi and Lionsgate co-production \u2018Uncle Drew: The Movie,\u2019 and \u2018StrEats of the World\u2019 a global campaign for Lay\u2019s.<\/p>\n
