Full-service music agency <\/span>Groove Guild<\/b><\/a> is expanding its talent roster, signing multi-platinum-selling producer and artist<\/span> Frans Mernick<\/b> for exclusive commercial representation. With a diverse background spanning work as a producer, songwriter, engineer, mixer and multi-instrumentalist, Mernick has been the driving force behind a slew of culture-defining tracks and EPs, partnering with top artists including Mark Ronson, Kanye West, Tyler the Creator, Dangermouse, among numerous others. His ability to seamlessly oscillate between hip hop and indie rock genres while still delivering a sound uniquely his own is evident in his creative output, infusing musical trends of today with the rich history of music\u2019s greatest legends.<\/span><\/p>\n

“While we\u2019re always looking to expand our roster of talent, Paul and I pointedly set out to find a uniquely diverse, high-level talent we could exclusively offer to our clients and industry-at-large,” notes Groove Guild’s Founder Al Risi. “For a concept like this to truly work for everyone, the artist needs to be unrestricted by third parties. That is a very tough needle to thread, especially with somebody at Frans\u2019 level. Timing is everything, and fortunately the time is right for us both.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Adds Groove Guild Creative Director and Partner Paul Riggio, “Frans and I worked together early in our careers, and we’ve stayed in touch. When he sent me some of his pre-release tracks, I was blown away; it was right in the pocket with what you hear on the Top 10 charts, but clearly had Frans’ sound. Being able to bring in an artist of his caliber is exciting for all of us.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Hailing from NYC and currently residing in LA, Mernick spent many years playing in bands before signing on as an in-house producer for American rapper A$AP Rocky. With nearly a billion total streams for his collective productions, Mernick’s recent work includes songs with and for MisterWives and Foster the People, as well as rising superstars including Beau Young Prince, Gabriel Black and Johan Lenox. He has upcoming songs cut with A$AP Rocky, Matt Ox, and Between Friends, to name but a few.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kicking off their partnership with excitement, Mernick recently leveraged his hyper-relevant sensibilities to craft a cover of Woody Guthrie\u2019s \u201cBetter World A-Comin\u2019,\u201d heard <\/span>HERE<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Notes Mernick of the collaboration, “I have always respected Woody Guthrie’s work as a songwriter and activist, so covering this song was an exciting undertaking. It’s not easy to take a Woody Guthrie song and modernize it; I tried my best! Woody’s message is as relevant today as it was when he vocalized it; his lyricism is timeless.”<\/span><\/p>\n
