Tia Adeola’s \u201cBlack Is Beautiful\u201d Film Is a Must-Watch<\/h1>\n

Teen Vogue<\/em>\u00a0Generation Next\u00a0alum\u00a0Tia Adeola\u00a0shared a slice of Renaissance fantasy in her debut fashion film\u00a0Black is Beautiful<\/em>\u00a0(or,\u00a0Le Noir Est Beau<\/em>\u00a0in French.)<\/p>\n

Unveiled on Tuesday, December 15, the short film is inspired by Sofia Coppola\u2019s 2006 movie\u00a0Marie Antoinette<\/em>\u00a0and is the most luxurious spin on squad goals you\u2019ll see this year. Featuring an all-Black female cast including stars like 20-year-old rapper Flo Milli and rising R&B singer Paloma Ford, Tia\u2019s first fashion film is an indulgent celebration of Black women and Black culture.<\/p>\n

Tia\u2019s inclusive and empowering vision of femininity is what landed her in\u00a0Teen Vogue<\/em>\u2019s\u00a021 Under 21 class of 2018. Since then, stars like SZA, Gigi Hadid, and Kali Uchis have worn her designs. This February, she made her\u00a0New York Fashion Week debut, and now, she’s inviting us into her world of Black excellence through a visual to compliment her Spring\/Summer 2021 collection.<\/p>\n

Directed by Nina Meredith, the two-minute film is an ethereal performance. Models wear their hair in theatrical braided styles and wear gowns hand-embroidered with pearls and faux feathers. The collection features pastel silk evening dresses and extravagant robes in Tia\u2019s signature sheer and ruffled fabric. The film is both \u201csocial commentary and fantastical escapism,\u201d according to a press release.<\/p>\n
