The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has sparked heavy discussions around the world, creating feelings of anxiety and excitement regarding the possible implications. Some fear AI’s ability to generate fast and accurate information will put their job in jeopardy, while others are excited about AI as a business tool allowing them to get more work done at a faster rate. As industries rapidly learn AI, the landscapes across various industries such as PR, marketing, and advertising are transforming.
AI On Marketing & Advertising
AI is expected to cause major changes in the marketing and advertising industry. For marketers, AI data can provide quick and valuable data insight into all aspects of marketing including customer analysis, predictions of content success, and indicating what platforms to target. Similarly in advertising, AI can provide data on demographics, identifying favorite media types, and interests, and allowing advertisers to better understand audiences. This process allows them to strategize advertisements that are relevant and best resonate with audiences.
However, some current AI software, such as Scale AI, allows people to easily create and design ads, producing thousands of versions of fake yet real-looking campaigns, with fake scenery, models, and more. Ads can then be tested to show which version of the ad generates the most success. This technology will allow advertising companies to save tons of money and time.
AI in Public Relations
The PR industry now with AI has the ability to gather all types of data in seconds, there is more time to design a successful strategy that connects with media outlets. Aftward, AI can track the performance of a campaign or story.
PR professionals have even created their own AI called PRophet, to assist the overall community of Public Relations. This AI tool can provide analysis, test ideas for content, personalize pitches, fix the length or tone of press releases, and predict target audience engagements. Utilizing this technology will help individuals in PR enhance “productivity, performance, and predictions” (Aaron Kwittken).
With AI, PR professionals can work faster and more efficiently. AI can find the best choice of media outlet, influencer, or journalist that will promote your news. AI software can discover all types of outlets that discuss related subjects or products ensuring that your news will reach the right audience. Now, PR professionals can earn media coverage and build relationships faster than ever.
AI’s Harmful Effects
However, while AI brings good aspects of each industry it can also be exploited. AI features track behavior and target certain audiences, analyze public opinions, and pinpoint key issues, to assist and tailor political campaign messaging. While the ability to use AI data analysis is inevitable, many are concerned with AI advances in chatbots given the ability to interact and give voters information, especially as chatbots are still not entirely accurate in their responses.
Future of AI
As AI continues to advance and evolve business worldwide, industries like PR, Marketing, and Advertising should not fear but learn to evolve themselves by establishing an understanding of AI. Incorporating AI as a tool can improve field professionals to create and target audiences, driving effective outcomes and ensuring companies’ success, allowing more and better work to be completed in less time.
